What is VPTherapy?
VPTherapy is "virtual presence" psychotherapy, one-on-one therapy delivered over the internet in a HIPAA-compliant manner. Virtual presence therapy is a form of telehealth, sometimes called telepsychotherapy or online therapy. Study after study has shown that virtual presence therapy can be a convenient, cost-effective way to work with a licensed therapist without the need to travel to a professional office for consultation. Virtual presence therapy also offers a secure, confidential way to exchange messages with your therapist between online face to-face sessions.
What is Telehealth?
The State of California defines telehealth as the mode of delivering healthcare via information and communication technologies, including, but not limited to, telephone and/or internet. Licensed therapists are permitted to deliver health care, under their scope of practice, by telehealth under conditions set forth by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Recently, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, some of those conditions have been modified to allow for greater access to therapy by telehealth.
VPTherapy delivers telehealth using a variety of technologies that are secure and HIPAA compliant. While no internet-based or electronic communications technology can ever be said to be 100% secure, VPTherapy is committed to the confidentiality of your work in therapy and uses the best available technology to keep your medical information and records secure.
